Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today asked party leaders and workers to work for making the party more disciplined and modern keeping in mind the next general election.
"Speak less, work more . . .Be more disciplined and modern to present Sheikh Hasina the victory in next general polls which is only one-and-a-half-year away from now," he said while speaking at representatives` conference of Sylhet division of Awami League on Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa Ground here.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said there are many intruders in AL using the banner of different pseudo organizations, including Prochar League, Tarun League, Karmajibi League, Digital League and Hybrid League, but the AL does not require such organizations at all.
He sounded a note of warning that no attempt to form a party within the party would be tolerated. "None will be allowed to build house inside the house," the AL general secretary said.
AL Joint-General Secretary Mahabub-ul-Alam Hanif presided over the representatives` conference, which is being held after 15 years.
AL leader and Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, AL organizing secretary Advocate Mejbah Uddin Siraj and central executive committee members Badruddin Ahmed Kamran and Prof Rafiqul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
Before the conference, the AL leaders offered fateha and doa at the mazar of Hazrat Shahjala (R).
