The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalized its report on probe into alleged crimes against humanity committed by former Pakistani army captain Md Shahidullah.
"We have found his involvement in crimes like murder, confinement, torture and looting," Mohammad Abdul Hannan, coordinator of the agency, told newsmen at a press briefing held at its Dhanmandi office this morning.
"He was posted in West Pakistan and on leave at his home when the war broke out. Shahidullah reported to duty at Dhaka cantonment for the occupation army. Later he was sent to Comilla cantonment. He had set up a camp in his area Daudkandi along with his men and carried out monstrous crimes in the locality," Hannan added.
The probe agency boss said they have brought three charges against the accused after recording testimonies of 19 witnesses alongside three more seizure list witnesses.
Investigation officer ZM Altafur Rahman launched the investigation against Shahidullah on October 11, 2015, and concluded yesterday. Earlier on August 3, 2016, the ICT-1 sent Shahidullah, 75, to jail as police produced him before the tribunal.
Shahidullah was arrested from his house in village Golaper Char under Daudkandi upazilla in Comilla on August 2, within hours of issuing an arrest warrant by the ICT-1 against him.
The first tribunal on January 8, 2017, set tomorrow to submit the probe report in the case against Shahidullah.
