Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser Mashiur Rahman has said that it was Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who introduced Microcredit system (very small loans) first in Bangladesh.
He made the remark while addressing a program as a chief guest titled “Historic March 1971 and Bangabandhu” at Jagannath University (JnU) at its central auditorium on Monday.
The PM’s adviser said that Bangabandhu inaugurated the microcredit system first in Bangladesh after the liberation war for the development of country’s poor people in order to build a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh.
“We have to work dedicatedly to make a non communal wealthy Bangladesh by using our idea, information, technique and technology,” he said.
Referring to Bangabandhu’s lifestyle, Mashiur also said that Bangabandhu led a very simple life.
“He loved his colleagues very much as everyone also loved him from their heart,” he said.
Mijanur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the University was present at the program as a key speaker.
The program was presided over by Dr. Priyoboto Paul, president of JnU Teachers Association. Among others, JnU Treasure professor Selim Bhuyun, Dr. Sarkar Ali Akkas, dean, faculty of Law were also present at the program.
Dr. Selim Bhuyan, dean, faculty of Arts delivered his speech as a special guest in the event.
The program was conducted by Teachers association general secretary Dr. Mohammad Abdul Baki.
JnU’s teacher association organized the program.
