Bangladesh, Sri Lanka to play Bangabandhu Gold Cup opener

Bangladesh take on visiting Sri Lanka in the opening group A match of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football scheduled to begin on Friday at the Shams-Ul Huda Stadium in Jessore.The match kicks off at 2.45 pm.State-owned Bangladesh Television and tournament broadcaster private satellite channel `Channel 9` telecast live the match. Bangladesh Betar will also prove the running commentary.Addressing at a pre match press conference at the City Plaza Hotel at Jessore today both the teams expressed their high hope on winning the match.Sri Lanka team head coach Sampath Perera said focusing the upcoming SA Games in India his side would try to bring a good result from the tournament.Bangladesh team`s head coach AKM Maruful Haque said: "Our target is to clinch the Championship.....we have good balanced team and hopefully we will be able to play our best game."Apart from host Bangladesh national football team and Bangladesh Olympic team, six more foreign teams Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nepal, Bahrain, the Maldives and Cambodia, split into two groups, will compete in the tournament.Bangladesh pitted in group A along with Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, while the group B consist with Bahrain, the Maldives Cambodia and Bangladesh Olympic.
