Share transaction rises to five-month high

Share market remained bullish on Wednesday on higher participation when the daily transaction in value at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose to five-month high.The daily trade volume at DSE on Wednesday was 17.65 crore shares, which was the highest after August 5, 2015 when 23 crore shares changed hands. The trade value also increased on the day to Taka 655.74 crore from Tuesday`s Taka 609 crore for over 15 crore shares.The higher transaction, which drove the major price indices towards upper support level, reflected return of investors with refreshed commitment, said market analysts.The trade value at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rose to Taka 40.45 crore from Tuesday`s Taka 39.58 crore when the trade volume increased to 1.32 crore shares from 1.02 crore of the previous session.The broader DSEX at DSE gained 36.55 points to finish the day at 4679.80 while the CSEX advanced by nearly 50 points to 8688.37. The two selective indices at DSE - the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also finished higher at 1774.99 and 1128.66 respectively.Market was highly in favour of sellers, with 202 securities closing higher at DSE when CSE saw 149 issues closing upward. The number of losing issues at DSE was 63 and at CSE it was 65.The day`s major gainers were MHSML, Alltex, GHAIL, Argon Denim and Emerald Oil. The major losers were RN Spinning, Simtex, Meghna Pet, Janata Insurance and Zeal Bangla Sugar.UPGDCL topped the turnover list followed by Beximco, Beximco Pharma, Emerald Oil and Ifad Autos.
