Bangladesh will send technical interns to Japan for employing them at different construction and production related industries.A memorandum of understanding will be signed in this regard between the International Manpower Development Organization, Japan (IM Japan) and Expatriates` Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry at the ministry at 10am Sunday.Minister for Expatriates` Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam BSc will attend the signing ceremony as the chief guest.Ministry sources said Japan will recruit the technical interns for five years to engage them in their ongoing construction works ahead of the Olympic Games in 2020 to be held in the Japanese capital of Tokyo."The taking of technical interns by Japan from Bangladesh will further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries. The Japanese government will bear all expanses for the interns," Nurul Islam told BSS.He said Japan is a tested friend of Bangladesh for long and the country has been cooperating with Bangladesh on economic plane.The trainees will get opportunities to work as managers and supervisors with handsome honorariums while they will also get lump sum capital at the time of their return to Bangladesh after completion of the job.In 2012, Japan started talks on recruiting manpower from Bangladesh in technical intern posts for different industrial institutions through Japan International Technical Cooperation Organization (JITCO).Later, two Japanese delegates signed an agreement in this regard and accordingly 24 Bangladeshi women workers were sent to Japan as technical interns.Source: BSS
