Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has filed a petition to Appellate division of Supreme Court seeking for a three years time to demolish its headquarters located at capital’s Hatirjheel project area.Barrister Imtiaz Mainul Hasan, a lawyer of BGMEA, said this while talking to journalists on Wednesday.He said that the court dismissed the review petition.It wants to know how long it would take time to demolish its building, he also said.BGMEA authorities have sought three years time to move its 15-storey building to another place, the barrister said.“In this regard, the court has told BGMEA authority to lodge a written plea within Thursday,” said Imtiaz Mainul Hasan.Meanwhile, the authorities have filed plea on Wednesday. It was learnt that, the appellate division of Supreme Court will give the order on Thursday.A three member appellate division bench, headed by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, dismissed the review petition on Sunday (March 5).Earlier, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said that government would give a piece of land to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to establish its headquarters in the capital’s Uttara by two years.The apex court ordered Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to demolish its building at its own cost. Otherwise RAJUK will demolish BGMEA complex after passing three month.
