BNP-Jamaat creates neo JMB for secret killings: Menon

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said the BNP-Jamaat clique has created the terrorist outfit- neo JMB- that is involved in secret killings across the country."The neo JMB has proved its existence through the Holey Artisan Cafe attack at Gulshan in the capital Dhaka," he said while taking part in the general discussion on thanksgiving motion of President Md. Abdul Hamid`s address to the Jatiya Sangsad on January 22. The minister said the BNP-Jamaat extended patronization to anti-liberation forces and Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai that paved the way for the rise of militancy in the country. They created the neo JMB for carrying out militancy and secret killings, he said. The civil aviation minister stressed the need for building a massive mass awareness campaign against militancy and terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.He said the country witnessed a lot of arson attacks led by BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia before and after the January 5, 2014 general elections and the attacks had claimed many lives. The people of Bangladesh are quite aware of the anarchy unleashed by the BNP-Jamaat, he added. Menon said the next general elections would be held in 2019 as per the constitution under the present government and there is no meaning of including the BNP in the poll-time administration as the party hatches conspiracy against polls.Thanking President Abdul Hamid for his speech, the minister said, his address was a unique document of the vision and mission of the present government. The speech has depicted the tremendous development and progress achieved under the bold and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.Taking part in the discussion, lawmakers belonging to both the treasury and opposition benches said the present government is relentlessly working for advancing the national economy in a faster pace by speeding up development in all areas and bringing smile on the faces of the common people. They said the government has already achieved success in various sectors and is now looking forward to turn Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041.The MPs said the President, in his speech, highlighted different positive aspects in social, political and economic sectors that set Bangladesh in motion on the wheels of a faster growth and building a hunger, poverty and militancy- free and digital Bangladesh.Due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s bold, dynamic and charismatic leadership, the government has been able to bring down the poverty rate and enhance people`s living standard giving a clear indication of achieving a middle-income status by 2021, they said.The members paid their heartfelt tributes to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders, martyred freedom fighters and also those who made supreme sacrifice during the War of Liberation and all subsequent democratic movements in the country.State minister for fisheries and livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda, treasury bench members Afsarul Amin, Al Haj M Dabirul Islam, Sheikh Afil Uddin, Jatiya Samastantrik Dal members Begum Lutfa Taher and AKM Rezaul Karim Tanshen, BNF member SM Abul Kalam Azad, independent member M Makbul Hossain, Tariqat Federation lawmaker MA Awal and opposition bench members Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and M Amir Hossain took part in the discussion.
