Tamim, Mominul shine as Bangladesh score 391/7 in warm-up match

Southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal scored a brilliant century to help Bangladesh dominate the first day of two-day warm-up match as they scored 391 for 7 at stumps against Sri Lankan Cricket President`s XI team on Thursday at De Zoysa Stadium, Moratuwa.Invited to bat first by the Sri Lankan Cricket President`s XI, Bangladesh lost their opener Soumya Sarkar early for 9 after an opening stand of 29 runs. It was certainly a disappointing start for Soumya, who has been preferred ahead of regular opener Imrul Kayes.Tamim Iqbal then pairing with first down Mominul Haque added a useful 143-run for the second wicket stand and again contributed another 75-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim (21) to guide Bangladesh to a commanding position. Mominul retired for 73 runs by striking 10 boundaries during his 103 balls stay on the crease.The left-handed opener Tamim also retired on before completing a magnificent knock of 136 runs off 182 balls that contained nine boundaries and seven over boundaries.Wicket keeper Liton Das and Taijul Islam remained unbeaten on 57 and 4 runs as the stumps were drawn for the day. Liton smashed 10 boundaries during his 64-ball stay on the crease.Sri Lankan medium-pacer Chamika Karunaratne was the most successful bowler as he claimed three wickets giving away 61 runs.Source: BSS
