A freedom fighter was beaten to death at Ghona Mobarakpur moor in Sadar upazila early on Tuesday.The victim was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 70, a resident of Ghona village in Sadar upazila.Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Thana Police Firoz Hossain Molla said Aktaru`s co-villager Akramul Islam bought rod and cement from Aktarul Islam`s shop three months back and did not pay the bill.Akramul Islam locked into an altercation when Kalam went to collect the money from him around 8pm on Monday.At one stage, Akramul aided by some other people beat Kalam mercilessly, leaving him critically injured. He was admitted to Sadar Hospital around 10pm where he succumbed to his injuries around 2am, Hospital sources said.Victim`s son Aktarul Islam then filed a case against seven people.Later, police arrested Mominul Islam, Abdul Wadud, Munna Hossain, and Md Joni.Source: BSS
