Prime minister Sheikh Hasina directed to hold Dhaka City Corporation elections. The PM said this on Monday after the cabinet meeting at the secretariat, confirmed a source from the cabinet. The PM at the discussion ordered Local Government Minister Syed Ashraful Islam not to keep on wait the election anymore and to initiate it immediately. She also announced the name of Anisul Haque, former FBCCI president, as the official candidate of Awami League for the election, source said. Saeed Khokon, son of former Mayor Hanif, has already been finalized as the candidate for the Dhaka South election, she added. Earlier on December 8, the Prime Minister ordered to hold both the North and South DCC election, but no visible initiatives are yet taken from the ministry or departments.
