Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, said today that entrusted with the challenge of being information minister was a complex one as he had to ensure freedom and development of the press , while combating communalism, militarism and militancy. He said this while speaking at the launching of his book "Media, Democracy, Journalism: Bangladesh Context". The book is a result of four years of research by him into the regulatory and development framework of the media ensuring human rights. He dedicated the book to the indomitable journalists of Bangladesh. The minister was speaking at the book launching ceremony of his book at the "Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela" today.The minister said that the country attained in exchange of the supreme sacrifice of millions of people had the challenge of combating communalism, militarism and militancy today. He further said that the media was an ally in this grim battle. He also said institutionalizing the media and ensuring its freedom and development with its responsibility and obligation was a great challenge as he was entrusted with the task of information minister at such a historical juncture. Others who spoke about the book included the director general of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Shah Md Alamgir, managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) Tapan Kumar Ghosh, Professor Anwar Hossain, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists` (BFUJ) Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, president of Dhaka Journalists` Union (DUJ) Shaban Mahmood and president of Dhaka Reporters` Unity (DRU) Shakhawat Hossain Badshah.
