Sylhet college student Khadiza Begum, who was brutally hacked by former BCL leader Badrul Alam on October 3, is doing well now.She will be able to return home from Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in a day or two, CRP authorities said at a press conference on Thursday.Dr. Sayeed Uddin Helal, a Neurologist of CRP, said Khadiza has improved a lot.“She can walk without others help. She can also talk. From now on she will be able to work. But she must be careful for five to six months to completely regain fitness,” he said.While talking to journalists Khadiza also said that she is doing better now.“I can talk now and also able to walk. I thanked to almighty, prime minister, countrymen, journalists and my physicians, who treated me,” said Khadiza.“After returning home, I want to start my study again. I want to become a banker,” she also said.“I want his capital punishment,” she added, in replying to a question about Badrul’s punishment.Khadiza was hacked brutally by Badrul Alam, who was a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and also former leader of the Bangladesh Chhatra League unit in SUST.She was first taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in a critical condition then she was moved to Square Hospitals in Dhaka as her condition deteriorated.Police on November 8 framed charges of attempted murder against Badrul, who was later indicted in the case.The case is now under trial at Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court in Sylhet.
