State minister for labour and employment Mujibul Haque said Bangladesh has planned to increase the export of readymade garment (RMG) to US$50 billion in 2021from the existing US$28 billion. "Our garment industries are known as green one in the world and the government has been working relentlessly for the development of the government sector," he said while inaugurating the two-day textile seminar here today. Shanghai ECD International of China organized the seminar. Additional secretary of the commerce ministry M Abdur Rouf and Dr Khandker Golam Moazzem also spoke at the opening session. Mujibul Haque said all garment factories have been brought under the supervision of the authorities concerned. The government along with the factory owners has been working to ensure safe work environment in garment factories, he said. He said Bangladesh is the only country where government has enacted a law to create a welfare fund for garment workers.
