The 48th death anniversary of martyred Sergeant Zahurul Haque is being observed on Wednesday with due solemnity.To mark the day, different socio-cultural and political organizations have chalked out various programs. Jatio Ganatantrik League will hold a human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club at 3.30 pm. Sergeant Zahurul Haque was shot dead by the Pakistani army on this day in 1969 when he was in prison at the Dhaka Cantonment in the so-called Agartala Conspiracy Case.His killing intensified the agitation for the release of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the anti-Ayub movement.Haque was born at Sonapur, Noakhali on February 9, 1935, and joined air force on 1953.
