The High Court asked the government to take necessary steps to stop the ongoing violence across the country in the name of hartal and blockade. It also asked the government to take stern actions against those who have been barring the ongoing Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations, reports United News of Bangladesh. A HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed the order on Sunday afternoon after hearing two separate writ petitions filed by Shahinur Rahman Shahin, a businessman; and managing committee of Ispahani High School of Keraniganj. In the order HC also asked the government to explain why violence, anarchy and subversive activities during hartal and blockade should not be declared illegal. The directive came on the first day of the fresh 72-hour hartal called by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led alliance alongside an indefinite transport blockade.
