Member of the British Parliament and granddaughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, today met with the Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad (JS) and Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office at the Sangsad Bhaban.Congratulating Tulip the Speaker said, "Bangladesh is proud of her becoming a member of the British Parliament."Discussing the activities of Jatiya Sangsad, the Speaker said, "Some JS proceedings have been changed to bring transparency and to accelerate actions."Praising the proceedings of Jatiya Sangsad Tulip said, "There were similarities between the proceedings of the parliaments of both the countries.""Bangladesh is a role model of development as the country is moving forward to economic development ensuring human rights" she added.Later, Tulip visited different areas of Sangsad Bhaban.Deputy Speaker M Fazle Rabbi Mian, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, senior secretary of JS M Ashraful Makbul and spouse of Tulip, Chris Percy were also present.
