LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain today said the `Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar (One House, One Farm) project has created scopes for employment and poverty alleviation of three crore people across the country.“A total of 1.20 crore people from 40,527 wards in 4,503 unions of the country were added to the project through 40,213 village associations from 2011 to June 30, 2016,” the minister said while replying to a tabled question from treasury bench member AKM Shahjahan Kamal of Luxmipur-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad.The minister said an association has been formed with participation of 60 poor families, including 40 women, in every village under the `Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar project.He said the government is providing Taka 200 to every poor person whenever he or she saves Taka 200 under the project. Besides, the government is providing an additional Taka 1.50 lakh annually to each village association as revolving fund, he added.Replying to another question from treasury bench member Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh of Munshiganj-1, he said as a brainchild of the prime minister the `Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar` project is being implemented in all wards of the upazilas across the country.Taka 3,162.96 crore was allocated for the project from July, 2009 to June, 2016, Hossain said.Source : BSS
