Bangladesh has got its first woman election commissioner with the appointment of Begum Kabita Khanam.The search committee recommended the names of two women- Begum Kabita Khanam and Dhaka University teacher prof Zarina Rahman Khan.Of them, Kabita Khanam, a retired district and sessions judge, was appointed by the president Abdul Hamid on Monday night.Kabita Khanam hails from Naogaon. He was a judge for 31 years. She retired in 2013. Her husband, also a judge, died in 2011.
