Indian Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s house in New Delhi was burgled in the early hours of Tuesday, police have said. Satyarthi is in the US at present. The replica of his Nobel prize has been stolen too among other valuables. The original has been kept at Rashtrapati Bhawan as per protocol. Cops suspect that the burgled were aware if the Nobel and mistook it for the original. However, it is yet to be ascertained if the thieves wanted just that. An FIR under section 380 (house theft) of the IPC has been registered and the cops are probing the case on priority. A manhunt has been launched fir the suspects. All scrap dealers and local criminals from the area have been detained. Crime and forensic teams have lifted fingerprints and other evidences from the spot, cops said. The burglary incident has created fear in the minds of Delhi residents as Satyarthi`s house is located in south Delhi`s posh Alakannda area. Last year, several valuable items, including idols and "copper Gandhi glasses" gifted by the Prime Minister, were stolen from Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor home in the early hours of November 29.Source: Times of India
