Internationally reputed nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s husband Dr MA Wazed Miah served the nation selflessly with the highest degree of patriotism, love and passion. The observation came at a memorial discussion organised by Dr MA Wazed Miah Memorial Foundation at Raja Ram Mohan Club auditorium in the city on Friday night on life and deeds of the nuclear scientist. Adviser of the foundation Dr Jashim Uddin Ahmed attended the discussion as the chief guest with its founding President AKM Farhadul Kabir in the chair. Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, adviser of the foundation Abu Bakar Siddique and president of Rangpur Press Club Sadrul Alam Dulu addressed as special guests. Dr Wazed`s classmate Monwar Hossain delivered speech on the life, deed, personality, excellent character, dozens of memories, unparallel talent and human qualities of the nuclear scientist. Patron of the foundation Dr Apurbo Kumar Bhattacharya, its Adviser Azhar Ullah Bhuiyan, Vice-president AK Borhan Uddin, Joint General Secretary Mir Mossarraf Hossain, also took part in the discussion. Members of the central executive committee of the foundation, local academicians, professionals, intellectuals, educationists, cultural activists and local journalists attended the discussion. The speakers termed Dr Wazed as an honest and greedless person with noble character, thoughts and excellent human qualities saying that he served the nation selflessly with the highest degree of patriotism. Dr Wazed dreamt for materialising dreams of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through his tremendous contribution to building an economically and technologically developed Bangladesh, they said. Rahat Anwar asked the young generations to follow Dr Wazed`s ideals in building a technologically and scientifically developed Bangladesh to realise Bangabandhu`s dream. The chief guest said ideals of Dr Wazed in serving the nation selflessly would remain immortal as a model source of inspiration and the people would remember him forever for his tremendous contribution to taking the country forward. Later, special munajats were offered seeking eternal peace of Dr MA Wazed Miah and wellbeing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and their other family members. Earlier, leaders of the foundation offered Fateha and placed wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in his paternal village Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila and distributed warm clothes there among the cold-hit people.
