Mahmoud Abbas to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday for a three-day official visit, Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh said in a statement on Monday.Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr Riyad Al Malki, Chief Justice Mahmud Al Habbash, President’s spokesperson Nabil Aburudainah, Diplomatic Affairs Advisor Dr. Mazdi Khaldi and high officials will be his entourages.This will be his first official visit to Bangladesh. Earlier in February last year, he made a stopover at Dhaka on his way to Japan from Jordan.The president will meet his Bangladeshi counterpart Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali.Bangladesh and Palestine are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a joint commission in Foreign Ministry level.Bangladesh has consistently backed the demand of the Palestinian people for an independent and viable state with East Jerusalem as its capital.Dhaka also condemns the Israeli occupation and backs the demand for Palestine’s “full membership” of the UN.
