DSE sees record transaction

With the transaction of over 51 crore shares, the daily trade volume at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) surged to a new high on Tuesday, taking the trade value to about five-years` highest and the major price index to about 27-months` peak as well. The daily transaction volume reached 51.31 crore shares, which was the highest after 49.80 core shares of December 27, 2016. The transaction value also surged to Taka 1,696.94 crore, the highest after Taka 1,804.74 crore, traded on July 28, 2011.DSEX, the major price index of DSE, added 62.79 points at close to finish the day at 5,277.39 which was the highest after October 16, 2014 when it was closed 5,285.84. The DSES for Shariah-based companies and DS30 for the blue-chip scrips finished the day marginally up at 1240.42 and 1894.66 respectively. Out of the day`s 326 traded issues, 218 gained against 75 losing securities. The large-cap securities were on the top of the upward trend with 176 securities of this cap category closing higher. The day`s major gainers were Paramount Textile, GBB Power, Tosrifa Industries, Simtex and Mercantile Insurance. The major losers included Imam Button, Standard Insurance, EBL NRB Mutual Fund, Zeal Bangla and Usmania Glass. Beximco Limited topped the turnover leaders followed by BBS, Apollo Isphat, Ifad Autos and Lanka Bangla Finance. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the same trend with its CASPI index ending 222.08 points up at 16,247.63.The daily trade value rose to Taka 108.93 crore and the volume was 3.59 crore. Out of the day`s 269 traded issues, 192 closed up against 60 lagging securities.
