Journalist Hasmat Ara Helal alias Nanni, wife of late Mohammad Helal Uddin, died of stroke in her Lakshmibazar residence in the old city at the age of 75.She left a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn her death.Hasmat Ara, who was a permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC), will be buried besides her husband`s grave at Jurain Graveyard after her namaz-e-janaza after Johr prayers.She was born to an aristocratic Muslim family in the old part of Dhaka. She started her career in journalism joining the Bengali daily Dainik Desh in 1979 after completion of MA degree from Department of Bangla of Dhaka University. She was a senior assistant editor of the Krira Jagot.In a message of condolence, Jatiya Press Club President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Quamrul Islam Chowdhury expressed deep shock at her death and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
