A bomb-like object was found on railway sleepers under a train at Bamandanga Railway Station in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha during a half-day hartal this morning, police said.Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sundarganj Police Station Atiar Rahman confirmed this to journalists. He said that on information police recovered the bomb-like material from a Santahar bound train coming from Lalmonirhat around 10:00am. "The bomb-like material is now under police custody for testing," Atiar added. Meanwhile, people at Bamundanga observed the half-day hartal protesting the killing of Gaibandha lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton. They are demaning immediate arrest of the culprits.
MP Liton was killed by unidentified miscreants at his residence on Saturday.
Pro-hartal activists blocked the railway track at Bamandanga station and forced the Santahar bound train to a halt around 7:00am.
