AL to hold two rallies in capital Jan 5

The Awami League will hold two rallies in the capital on January 5 marking the victory of democracy.AL General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader announced the programme at a joint meeting of the party at Dhanmondi Pinki Community Centre.The meeting was held with leaders of district and upazila units of Awami League in the areas adjoining the capital over the programmes of home-coming day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to be observed on January 10.AL presidents and general secretaries and party MPs, upazila chairmen and municipality mayors of the areas around Dhaka attended the meeting, reports BSS.The AL general secretary said Dhaka North AL will hold a rally at Russel Square while Dhaka South AL at Bangabandhu Avenue on January 5.District and upazila units of the AL and its associated organizations will observe similar programmes across the country.Obaidul Quader said all at home and abroad appreciated Narayanganj city polls as free and fair but BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia alleged `conspiracy` in the election.He urged Begum Zia to prove her allegation of conspiracy in Narayanganj polls or withdraw her statement.AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, Dr. Dipu Moni and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, BM Mozammel Huq and Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nawfel were present at the meeting, among others.
