Awami League mayoral candidate Selina Hayat Ivy won peaceful Narayanganj City Corporation polls today, defeating the BNP candidate Shakhawat Hossain Khan by 77,902 votes.
Selina Hayat Ivy bagged 1,74,602 votes while Shakhawat Hossain Khan 96, 700 votes.
Earlier, the voting in the NCC polls passed off peacefully today amid fear of violence.A large number of security forces were deployed at different points of the polling centers. There is no report of violence centering the election.The balloting began at 8:00am and continued till 4:00pm without any break.Both the ruling Awami League-backed Selina Hayat Ivy and Bangladesh Nationalist Party-supported Sakhawat Hossain Khan cast their votes in respective centres in the morning.Both the parties have expressed their satisfaction over the voting.
