Children Living with Smokers Get More Cavities

It is well-known that smoking causes great harm to the human body. For decades, the war on cigarettes has been strong, sparking vast taxation increases, warnings from the surgeon general and childhood education on the topic. It has long been known that secondhand smoke is one of the leading causes of lung cancer…but it is now coming to light that smoking can also lead to tooth decay of children living with smokers. A Japanese study found that 3-year-olds living with smokers were up to 50 percent more likely to develop cavities than those living with non-smokers.In an ideal world, this is reason enough to cause parents to not smoke around their children. Perhaps realizing the risk that is posed, people can make changes and be safer. -dailylifestyle
