Awami League today asked the party leader and activists to remove all banners and welcome gates, erected across the country marking 20th national council, before the observance of Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14."Banners, festoons and gates are being erected even now greeting thenewly elected central leaders of our party. All banners, festoons and gates including those made for the national council will have to be removed before December 14," Awami League Joint General Secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak told a press conference after the completion of a joint meeting at Party President Sheikh Hasina`s political office at Dhanmondi here.He said no photographs, except Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and family members of Bangabandhu, can be used in the banners, festoons and posters those will be made marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day.Later, he announced the party programmes on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day.He urged the party leaders and activists throughout the country to make all the programmes successful.Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Industries Secretary Abdus Sattar, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afjal Hossain, Relief Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Women Affairs Secretary Fazilatunnesa Indira, Agriculture Affairs Secretary Faridunahar Laily, Bangladesh Chhatra League President Saifur Rahman Sohag,General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain, Jubo Mahila League President Nazma Akhtar and General Secretary Apu Ukil and Jatiya Sramik League General Secretary Sirajul Islam, among others, were present at the press conference.Earlier, Awami League held the joint meeting with presidents and general secretaries of associate and like minded bodies.Party General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader chaired the meeting.
