State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Tuesday said freelancers will be provided special cards through which they would be able to use high-speed bandwidth at low cost for uninterrupted speedy works."An agreement to this end is going to be signed with internet service providers (ISPs)," he told a grand get-together of freelancers. Daffodil International Academy arranged the get-together in the auditorium of Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh (KIB) in the capital.The state minister also said the government has taken an initiative titled "Earn and Pay Project" to increase the number of new entrepreneurs in ICT sector where freelancers will be given single digit loan facilities.Noting that currently the female outsourcers are earning almost double than their male outsourcers, Palak put emphasis on further raising involvement of female outsourcers in the sector.While addressing as the keynote speaker, Santiago Gutierrez, president of World Information Technology Services Alliance (WITSA), announced that Bangladesh will host the WITSA Assembly in 2021.Advising the freelancers to dedicate themselves to their works, Santiago Gutierrez said that he was a freelancer for long time in his life. "If anyone has dedication and integrity in his or her works, he or she must succeed in life," he said.Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Group, presided over event, while Clyde Unno, ex-chairman, Accenture Japan, AHM Mahfuzul Arif, president, Bangladesh Computer Samity, Ahmedul Haque Bobi, president, Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) and Md. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, executive director, Daffodil International Academy and coordinator of the event, spoke.In his presidential address, Sabur Khan urged the government to come forward to set up large number of capital companies to support the freelancers.More than 1000 freelancers from all over the country along with young IT lovers participate in this grand gathering.In the opening ceremony 77 freelancers in different categories were awarded for their outstanding performances in their respective fields.
