Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said discussions are going on with British government for the construction of a rail line from Padma Bridge to Payra Port.She said the government has sought support of the World Bank and Chinese government for constructing a bridge at Mirjaganj of Patuakhali district across the Payra River.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this in parliament while replying to a question from independent lawmaker Rustam Ali Farazi during Prime Minister’s question-answer session in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.The prime minister said the Payra Bridge would be constructed as ‘Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge’ under a MoU signed between the two countries.She hoped that construction of Payra Bridge would begin at a proper time.The prime minister said the government has a plan to construct a number of bridges under Barisal Highway Development Plan.Source: BSS
