Islami Andolon’s long march towards Myanmar on December 18

Islamist group Bangladesh Islami Andolon said on Tuesday that they will hold a long march towards Myanmar on December 18 to protest against crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state in Myanmar.The Islamist group made the announcement on Tuesday at lay siege program in front of National Press Club in Dhaka. Law enforcement forces foiled their attempt to lay siege Myanmar Embassy. Police resisted them while they were marching towards the Myanmar Embassy near Press Club area.   In face of resistance, leaders and activists of Islami Andolon staged a sit-in program at the position. From the sit-in, they announced the long march program on December 18 The Islamist group leaders accused the international community of being silence about Rohingya repression in Myanmar though Myanmar authorities unabatedly violate human rights in their Rakhine state. They said that they will continue their protest against the Rohingya repression in Myanmar. They informed that they will start the long march at 9.00am on December 18. Among others, Dhaka City North Unit president Principal Hafez Maulana Sheikh Faysal Bari Masud, Joint Secretary General Principal Hafez Maulana ATM Hemaet Uddin,  Dhaka City South Unit President Maulana Md Imtiaz Alom, spoke on the occasion.
