Academicians said that concentration should be given on Digital Library as it is possible to overcome many constraints including time, space and money by digitalizing our libraries. They made the observation at a workshop on ‘Central Library Capacity Building’ held at UGC auditorium on Thursday. Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) organized the workshop. Taking part in the discussion, UGC member Professor Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah said the concept of digital library needs promotion. “Digital Library is the best way to overcome time, space and money constraints. We need to promote and expedite the use of digital resources among the students, teachers and researchers to enhance their knowledge and skills to survive in today’s globalized world,” he said. He stressed on raising awareness about the use of digital library among students, teachers and researchers.Among others, UGC Member Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, HEQEP Project Director and Additional Secretary Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, and World Bank Senior Operations Officer Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, spoke at the workshop. Librarians from 80 public and private universities of the country participated in the workshop. Senior officials from UGC and HEQEP were also present on the occasion.
