US wants to work with Bangladesh to resolve Rohingya crisis

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat said on Monday that her country is concerned over the recent crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state in Myanmar and they want to work to end the crisis.

“We are concerned over the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar. We want to work with Bangladesh and its like-minded countries to resolve the problems,” Bernicat said while speaking to journalists at a programme in Dhaka. Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) organised the program.

She said that humanitarian activities have been totally stopped in Rakhine state due to the recent crackdown.

She said that a complete transparent and formal investigation into the matter is needed. “We don’t know what is actually happening there,” she said.
