The High Court has ordered the Director General (DG) of Immigration and Passport Department to issue a new Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed.The HC bench of Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif passed the order on Tuesday.The apex court directed to implement it within seven days after receiving a copy of the order.Rizvi submitted an application on December 12 last year to the DG of the passport department for an MRP but the authorities did not grant his application.Rizvi’s lawyer Zahirul Islam Suman said to the journalist after hearing, the court had made a ruling to give an MRP to Rizvi as he had submitted the writ petition. But that wasn’t implemented. That’s why the court directed to issue an MRP within seven days after receiving the order.
