Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, a former president of Narayanganj District Bar Association, has got the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) ticket to contest for the mayoral post in the upcoming Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls billed for December 22.Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the party, revealed this information at a press conference which was held at party’s office in the capital’s Nayapaltan at 10.45am on Tuesday.The maiden election to NCC was held on October 30, 2011 when Selina Hayat Ivy was elected the country’s first female city mayor defeating Awami League-backed Shamim Osman. BNP-backed mayoral candidate Taimur Alam Khandaker had quit the race hours before the voting.This is for the first time, voting in the NCC will be held on party line.
