District Council polls on Dec 28

The Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule for the first-ever district council polls, which is dated on December 28.The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed announced the schedule at Media Centre of EC on Sunday.The last date of filling nomination is December 1, which will be scrutinized on December 3 & 4. The aspirants can appeal against the decision of Returning Officer on December 5 and 6.Withdrawal date of nomination is December 11. The electoral symbol will be allotted on December 12. Voting will be held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on December 28.Rakibuddin said the candidates must be citizen from the concern district.Only the elected representatives of different local government bodies - city corporations (if applicable), upazila parishads and union parishads - will vote to elect a chairman, 15 general members and five women members in each district council.The elected representatives won’t be able to candidates for the election. Any Bangladeshi age up to 25 years can be candidate.
