Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) on Monday urged media workers to hold countrywide demonstrations in front of their respective organizations at 11am on Wednesday demanding immediate formation of the 9th Wage Board for them, reports BSS.The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the leaders of BFUJ, DUJ, DRU, Sub Editors Council, Photo Journalists Association and others mass media organizations at the Jatiya Press Club with BFUJ president Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul in the chair.The journalists’ leaders, in the meeting, expressed their deep resentment as the proposed wage board was yet to be formed in line with the information minister’s pledge.They also expressed their commitment to continue the joint movements on the streets till the demand was met.The leaders also urged all district journalist organizations, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Jessore, Dinajpur, Bogra, Moymensingh, Narayanganj and Kushtia journalists unions, to make the Wednesday’s demonstrations a success.As per the decision, journalists unions, reporters unity, sub-editors council and others mass media organizations will stage demonstrations in front of their respective organizations from 11 am on Wednesday across the country.In Dhaka, as part of the programme, the demonstration will be held in front of Jatiya Press Club at 11 am on the day.A BFUJ press release signed by its secretary general Omar Faruque urged all media workers to attend the demonstration to make it a success.
