The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday postponed till Wednesday the hearing on the appeal filed by Jamaat ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami, challenging the death sentence given by the International Crimes tribunal (ICT)-1.The Apex Court adjourned the hearing as advocate SM Shahjahan, continued reading paper book on the defence case. Hearing on Nizami`s appeal started on September 9 and then adjourned till November 3. But the hearing was not held on that day as a judge was found absent.The ICT-1 on October 29, 2014, sentenced Nizami to death for committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation.The former president of Islami Chhatra Sangha (ICS), then student wing of Jamaat, and chief of al-Badr was found guilty on eight charges out of the total 16, and the tribunal awarded him death on charge numbers 2, 4, 6 and 16.On November 23, 2014, the defence filed an appeal seeking acquittal for their client on 168 grounds.
