State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim has said experimental biometric registration of SIMs launched at all the customer care centers of all mobile phone operators on Sunday.Minister said, as per our previous announcement, the authorities concerned of all mobile phone operators have started their SIM re-registration using the biometric system from Sunday on experimental basis, and they will officially launch it on December 16 next.She told this to reporters while visiting the customer care centers of a mobile phone operator in Gulshan area of the city.The re-registration process will continue till April next year, she said, adding that if any unregistered SIM is found after the deadline, the mobile phone operator concerned will be fined.Earlier on October 21, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the test operation of the biometric registration system of mobile phone SIM (Subscriber identity module) cards.
