SC upholds Manju`s acquittal in graft case

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday upheld a High Court order that acquitted Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).An Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order, scrapping an appeal filed by the ACC against the High Court verdict.A lower court on May 18, 2008, sentenced Manju to 13-year imprisonment. But following an appeal filed by Manju, the High Court on August 22, 2010, canceled the lower court verdict.
