Two extremists were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Santhia upazila of Pabna early Friday.The dead were identified as Biplu, 50, son of Abbas Ali, and Moyen, 35, son of Motaleb, residents of the upazila.Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Ataikula police station said that, acting on a tip off, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive at Goyeshbari area around 4 in the dawn. Sensing the presence of the elite force, the extremists opened fire on them. RAB also retaliated.At one stage of the battle, Biplu and Moyen suffered several severe bullet injuries.Critically injured they were rushed to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared them dead.The RAB also seized some arms and ammunition from the spot, he added.
