11 JMB men held from city`s Uttara

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested 11 suspected members of the banned militant outfit Jamatul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) along with huge quantity of explosives and local weapons from their possessions after a joint drive at city`s Uttara area on Tuesday night.Acting on a tip off, the DB police team led by Senior Police Commissioner Muhammad Monjur Morshed arrested the JMB men from Uttara at around 8-20pm on Monday when they assembled in the capital under the leadership of Arif Ibne Khayer allias Rifat, one of the close associates of JMB`s acting chief Abu Talha Mohammad Fahim who was arrested earlier by DB police on July 27 last.The arrestees are Arif Ibne Khayer alias Rifat, M Babu Munshi alias Masud Rana, M Khorshed Alam, Omar Faruque, M Alahaz Mia, M Helal uddin, Abdul Baset, M Sujat, Ajhar Al, M Farhad Hossen and Mizanur Rahman.The DB Police have also recovered different types of local weapons including three machetes, a locker breaking machine, knives, jihadi books, explosive substances like 1.5 kg Sulpher and 100grams Potash and seven mobile phone sets from their possessions.After primary interrogation, they confessed that they had a plan to attack different important establishments including the VVIP and VIP establishments of the state.A regular case has been filed with the Uttara Paschim Police Station in this connection.
