A Gazipur court on Wednesday handed down death sentence to a man for killing a school boy in 2007.Additional Districts and Sessions Judge, Fazle Elahi, pronounced the verdict nine years after the murder of Md Selim, a ninth-grader of a local school.He also fined Nurul Islam, the convict, Tk 10,000 alongside the capital punishment.According to the case statement, Nurul Islam stabbed to injure Selim while he along with his friend Rakib going to one Hasnara Begum house to eat plum.At one stage, Nurul chased them and caught Selim and stabbed him with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to Sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead.The victim’s father then filed a murder case with Joydebpur Police Station against Nurul and Hasnara Begum.Police had submitted charge sheet two months after the incident and it was framed on March 9, 2007.After examining the records and eleven witnesses testified, the judge handed down the verdict.
